Congratulations Scott #CongratulationsScott

MENTOR-ON-THE-LAKE, Ohio — A Mentor-on-the-Lake police officer is being praised for his quick actions in helping to deliver a baby during a call last week.

According to the Mentor-on-the-Lake Police Department’s Facebook page, a 911 call was received just after midnight on March 6 from father-to-be Jermaine stating that his girlfriend, Angel, was in active labor. Jermaine added that the baby’s head was fully visible.

Police say Sergeant Scott Daubenmire, along with Patrolman Brodzinski, responded to the call. Daubenmire was the first to arrive on scene and immediately provided emergency assistance.

How immediately was that assistance? Mentor-on-the-Lake police say within one minute of Daubenmire’s arrival, a healthy baby girl named Xaria was born. Daubenmire was able to provide emergency aid and assistance while Angel did the rest.

“It typically takes an OBGYN many many years to complete their education before delivering a baby, Sgt Daubenmire delivered his first baby in under ONE MINUTE!! Congratulations to Angel and Jermaine on their brand new addition to their family and great job to Sgt. Daubenmire for his quick and effective actions during this emergency situation,” Mentor-on-the-Lake police wrote on Facebook. “Job well done!”

Police add that Angel and Xaria are healthy and have returned home.
