The Zimbabwe Independence day celebrated every year on April 18, and the country got the independence mark from the United Kingdom on April 18, 1980. Every year, the celebration held on April 18 but the public holiday appears on April 19. The country got its independence from the United Kingdom in the 1980s and then, the date was declared as the National Day of Zimbabwe. Before 1890, the Zimbabwe country was affected by the Europeans, and later, the British South Africa Company occupied the country. Cecil Rhodes was the founder of the company in 1889.
In 1895, the region was known as Southern Rhodesia in honor of Cecil Rhodes and the British South Africa Company governed until 1922 when the Europeans decided to vote for make British Colony. In 1953, the Britainians gathered the Southern Rhodesia (Zimbabwe), Northern Rhodesia (now Zambia), and Nyasaland (now Malawi) and created Central African Federation. After splitting the federation in 1964 and Malawi and Zambia got independent, then, Ian Smith declared as a Prime Minister of the country, which is now called Rhodesia. Later, Smith started a campaign for Independence from Britain and the white minority runs the government.

The independence declaration was announced in 1965 but, did not recognize this Internationally. Because of this, Zanu and Zapu organization took place in Rhodesia. In this pressure, the multiracial election in 1980 was declared by the White Minority, and Robert Mugabe and his Zanu won the independence election and Mugabe became the Prime Minister of Zimbabwe and the formal independence was declared on April 18, 1980.
