Zelensky said the visit clearly illustrated enduring bipartisan support of Ukraine by the U.S. Congress and the American people. He expressed hope that crippling U.S. sanctions on Russia will keep ramping up.

“Russia is engaging in genocide of the Ukrainian people; (it) commits war crimes that horrify the entire world: torture, mass executions, rape,” the president said.

“Europe hasn’t experienced such crimes since WWII…; in addition, (we) think Russia should be officially recognized as a state sponsor of terrorism.”
Zelensky hailed the Ukraine Democracy Defense Lend-Lease Act, signed by U.S. President Joe Biden on May 9, and said he hopes the U.S. Senate will expediently pass the $40 billion military and economic aid package for Ukraine.
