Zach Wilson tripped walking onto the field and summed up the 2023 Jets perfectly

Look, some symbolism is simply too on the nose. Martin Scorsese, ending a tale of police corruption with a lingering image of a rat traipsing across a balcony in front of the Massachusetts State House? Too obvious.

Yet sometimes we’re shown that real life, as sloppy and stupid as it is, can be plainly obvious itself. And nothing in football is sloppier or stupider than the New York Jets’ offense. After losing Aaron Rodgers to injury after just four plays, New York was forced to turn back to 2021-2022 starter Zach Wilson at quarterback.

As a result, the Jets haven’t scored a touchdown this month. It’s all the result of a quarterback who, well, looks exactly like the kind of guy who’d trip over his own feet running onto the field.
