A new trailer for the highly-anticipated anime movie Yuri on Ice: Ice Adolescence has just premiered on YouTube, but what date is the film expected to release?
2016’s ‘Yuri on Ice’ anime is arguably one of the most criminally-underrated series in recent memory.
The show may not have either the widespread appeal or the large fanbase of the classic fantasy-action series, but Yuri on Ice was one of the most memorable and moving anime that many viewers had ever seen.
Not only did it win the ‘Best Animation of the Year’ at the 2017 Tokyo Anime Award Festival, but countless honours at Crunchyroll’s first Anime Awards, including ‘Most Heartwarming Scene’, ‘Best Animation’ and ‘Anime of the Year’.
Following the conclusion of the series, it was announced that an anime movie would be produced, so what do we know about Yuri on Ice: Ice Adolescence so far?

Today, November 26th, the official teaser trailer for Yuri on Ice: Ice Adolescence was released on YouTube by Avex Pictures, see below.
It’s only been a matter of hours since the trailer premiered, but the video has already been viewed more than 80,000 times – demonstrating just how popular the franchise still is with fans around the world.

Unfortunately, an official release date has not been revealed by the animation studio, but the animation studio did reveal on Twitter that the production is “still ongoing with the aim of further enriching the film.”
“Our team will continue to work diligently to deliver a film and share our unwavering love and dedication for skating. We deeply apologise to all fans for the circumstance and ask for your generous understanding.” – Production Committee, via Twitter.
Based on the recent trailer and the message from the production team, a winter-2021 premiere is the most likely release window – which is appropriate for the theme of the movie.
However, there is a chance that Yuri on Ice: Ice Adolescence could premiere as soon as summer-2021. This article will be updated as soon as more information is revealed.

Unfortunately, very little is known about the plot for Yuri on Ice: Ice Adolescence – in truth, we don’t know a single thing.
The teaser trailer from 2019 showed a young Viktor Nikiforov performing at the Winter Olympic Games, a theme which has been continued in the recent trailer.
We are expecting more information on the plot for Yuri on Ice: Ice Adolescence to be revealed within the next few months, likely alongside the official voice cast for the movie.
