LOS ANGELES — YouTube celebrity Jake Paul demolished retired NBA player Nate Robinson with a second-round knockout Saturday night at Staples Center.

Robinson, the three-time NBA Slam Dunk champion, fell face first on the canvas and lay motionless for about a minute after Paul connected with an overhand right with 1:35 left in the second round.

Robinson, in his first boxing match ever, came out aggressively. Leading with his left hand, Robinson rushed Paul in what was billed as the co-feature bout of the Mike Tyson-Roy Jones Jr. fight.

The ungainly style initially appeared to neutralize Paul, 23. But not for long.

Robinson hit the canvas twice before the first round was over. It was unclear if the second fall was a knockdown or a slip, but there was no confusion about the outcome.

Paul’s overhand right in the second round that dropped Robinson proved devastating.

Robinson, 36, remained on the canvas unconscious for at least a minute and it took a while to get him off the mat and onto a stool.

Robinson walked to the locker room under his own power and there was no immediate plan to take him to the hospital for additional medical attention, fight publicist Michael Goldberg said.
