Hump Day #HumpDay
BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) -Happy Hump Day, everyone! It has been nothing but steamy hot and a bit stormy over the last few days. But now we are on the cusp of much more pleasant weather – cooler and less humid air is on the doorstep.
It will still be hot & humid for the first half of the day, but a cold front moving from north to south will begin to bring in the more comfortable air in our northern areas as we go through the afternoon. The southern counties will continue to be steamy, and a little stormy, too, with another flare-up of showers & thunderstorms in the afternoon & evening.
It will clear out overnight and turn cooler and much less humid . . . downright dry, in fact. With high pressure building in, Thursday will be a delightful day with much less humidity, lower temperatures, and lots of sunshine.
Friday will feature a little more cloudiness mixing in with some sun. And there could be a few showers Friday night with a minor disturbance coming through.
The weekend will get off to a very nice start with a nice, summer day on Saturday. Sunday will start out with some sunshine, but then it will be clouding up with showers late in the day as a frontal system moves in. That system will hit the brakes and wobble around the northeast into early next week with a round of cooler, unsettled, showery weather.
With clear skies expected Thursday morning, you might want to check out the expected solar eclipse, which will be happening as the sun rises (at 5:08 AM in Burlington). Do not stare directly at the sun . . . just catch quick glimpses of it. Or project the light from the sun with a pinhole device. Or tune in to the Channel 3 News during the morning broadcast where we will be showing the eclipse live on the air. -Gary
