Young Dolph’s partner Mia Jaye pays tribute on first birthday since rapper’s death

July 27th 2022 would have been Young Dolph’s 37th birthday and his longtime partner Mia Jaye paid an emotional tribute on social media.

Adolph Robert Thornton Jr, who was better known as Young Dolph, died following a shooting outside of a cookie store in Memphis in November last year.

The rapper’s death shocked and saddened the entire music industry and his fans across the globe.

Young Dolph’s long-term partner Mia Jaye shared an emotional tribute on his first birthday after he died in November 2021.

Mia, who shares two children with the late rapper, uploaded a short footage of them as they enjoyed a sweet interaction in front of the camera.

“Happy Heavenly Birthday My Love,” Mia captioned the Instagram post.

The touching tribute prompted many messages of love and support from her followers, with one person writing: “Long live Dolph!!”

Another one wrote: “You seemed so safe with him. Rest well and happy birthday king Dolph.”

Fans pay tributes

Fellow musicians and fans took to Twitter and wished the late rapper a happy heavenly birthday.

“Happy Young Dolph day, we miss you,” wrote Twitter user Nima Etminan.

Someone else wrote: “Rest In Peace Young Dolph Happy Birthday Up Above!!!!!” as another one said: “Happy birthday to a goat @YoungDolph.”

Another touching tribute read: “Happy birthday to the late Young Dolph. He truly had his life ahead of him and its a shame he’s not with us anymore. We will never forget you.”

A street was named after the rapper

A street was named in honour of Young Dolph after the rapper’s memorial service at Memphis’ FedEx Forum in December 2021.

The city’s officials paid their respects and renamed a street to Adolph “Young Dolph” Thornton, Jr. Avenue which sits between Dunn Avenue and Airways Boulevard in Memphis.

In an emotional statement after his death, Young Dolph’s family said:

“Losing Adolph, Dolph, Man-Man, changes our lives forever. And while we will take each day as it comes, we are comforted in knowing that he leaves a legacy that reflects his heart. A heart that was for his family. A heart that was for the people.

“As a family, we were blessed to call him our son, our nephew, our brother, our cousin, our partner and our Father. And now, we have the honor of calling him our angel. A role he has always played.”
