Young Dolph Mural Vandalized Ahead Of Late Rapper’s 37th Birthday

Dolph #Dolph

A mural honoring the late rapper Young Dolph has been defaced in South Memphis ahead of the late rapper’s 37th birthday.

The artist who created the mural, Cameron Hill, took to Instagram to share a video of the mural which was splashed with white paint.

“I was commissioned by the Ida Mae Foundation to create a mural in South Memphis of Young Dolph where he shot his most famous video 100 shots in South Memphis to honor him for his birthday that’s coming up next week,” he wrote in the Instagram caption.

Hill said that he and the Ida Mae Foundation had been “talking about doing this project” for the last four months. And was extremely disappointed to see the money and effort put in by him and the foundation, be destroyed by “a group of hating individuals.”

He added that the “certain group of individuals” that he is referencing have been trying to “ruin” his art career and “tarnish” his name since last year.

“I have been harassed and also threatened for the last two or three days for trying to do something for the foundation and to make the community look better,” he wrote. “I have been getting calls and texts from different numbers from people trying to plot on me. They have been sending people up there to try to intimidate me and spy on me.”

Despite the adversity, Hill said that those who are trying to target him are not going to stop his shine or downplay his “God given talent.”

According to Memphis’ Commercial Appeal, the mural is located at a shopping center near the corner of Elvis Presley Boulevard and Norris Road.

Treecia Freeman, a cashier at a nearby discount store, told reporters that Hill had been working on the mural for four consecutive days and added that it was “so beautiful.”

“I don’t know what the world is coming to…He was with a paint can not a gun,” she said. “He was trying to let other young people know that they can do good things for the community, and people are doing bad things to him.”

According to HipHopDX, although Hill believes he knows the identity of the person(s) responsible for defacing the mural, he will not be pressing charges at this time.

ABC24 Memphis has since released footage of the mural being vandalized.

The mural was intended to be completed ahead of Young Dolph’s 37th birthday which is July 27th.
