Kevin Owens defeated Sami Zayn in the first great match of WrestleMania 37, Night 2, with YouTuber Logan Paul watching from the announce table. Zayn took exception to Paul congratulating Zayn as Paul shoved Zayn, only to take a Stunner from Owens for his troubles.

The much crankier crowd continued to live up to that distinction in Night 2. Logan Paul may have been the most over character in a match he wasn’t even in as fans relentlessly chanted variations of “Logan sucks!” when they weren’t showering Kevin Owens with chants of “KO-Mania” and “this is awesome.”

WWE may be onto something with Paul as a potential heel. The promotion landed a huge coup when it originally brought in Paul, who represents the type of talent that could potentially help WWE connect with a younger audience. Paul has over 22 million YouTube subscribers and proved himself to be a legitimate pay-per-view draw on the strength of his viral knockout over Nate Robinson on the undercard of the Tyson-Roy Jones bout.

The Triller pay-per-view garnered over $80 million and was estimated to draw over 1.6 million buys. Paul’s previous pay-per-view bout against KSI drew over 1.3 million pay-per-view buys as the YouTube sensation continues to crossover as a viable star in the combat sports world. Paul is current training for a boxing match against former UFC star Ben Askren on April 17.

Paul’s WWE debut did not translate to a significant spike in viewership as the final viewership number was down 2.5% with 2.137 million viewers. Perhaps WWE would be better served positioning Paul as a wrestler, similar to the successful debut of Bad Bunny.
