WWE SmackDown advertised a loaded show with a Universal Championship main event between Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns where, if Roman Reigns won, Daniel Bryan would be banished from the blue brand. SmackDown also advertised an Intercontinental Championship match between Apollo Crews and big E.
Last week’s broadcast of Friday Night SmackDown garnered 2.121 million viewers.

WWE Friday Night SmackDown Results—Friday, April 30, 2021 Bianca Belair and the Street Profits def. Bayley and The Dirty Dawgz
Bayley was only going to get away with laughing in Bianca Belair’s face for so long before she got the spit slapped out of her.
Montez Ford finds new and exciting ways to do an already exciting Frog Splash, and this week he chose to so via springboard.
Natalya and Tamina def. Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax
Part of Nia Jax’s gimmick is being so over these dumb interview questions and who can blame her?
If Nia and Shayna Baszler didn’t walk to the ring with those belts, there’s no way I’d believe they were champions given how they’ve been booked of late.
WWE has gotten too comfortable pinning Shayna Baszler.
Big E def. Apollo Crews by Disqualification
This match was like WrestleMania 37 all over again in that they worked their butts off, were on their way to a great match only for the match to end abruptly after outside interference.
Sami Zayn vs. Apollo Crews will only work if Zayn backs into being a babyface, which I don’t see happening anytime soon.
It appears as if SmackDown is setting up a Fatal 4-Way for the Intercontinental Championship, which will be the perfect type of match for a cheap victory by Crews without having to beat Big E.
Roman Reigns def. Daniel Bryan—WWE Universal Championship
Roman Reigns’ new theme music isn’t terrible, but it will have to grow on me.
Even with all the posturing and a commercial break prior to starting, this match was set up to get a lot of time, at least 30 minutes to be exact.
Paul Heyman’s “Yes” promo before this match was simply fantastic, and a lot of internet dorks will be furious with Heyman saying Bryan graduated from the pee-wee leagues to the big stage.
I was pleasantly surprised by how clean this finish was, but that’s exactly the type of win Roman Reigns needs if WWE wants to continue building him up as an unstoppable monster.
