WWE SmackDown results: Live recap, grades as Roman Reigns and Jey Uso prepare for SummerSlam’s ‘Tribal Combat’

Jey Uso #JeyUso

Roman Reigns and Jey Uso look to settle the score at SummerSlam, but their collision course runs through WWE SmackDown. Reigns and Uso both head to the blue brand on Friday as they make preparations for “Tribal Combat.”

The feuding cousins met last week to set the rules of engagement for their SummerSlam showdown. Uso — at the behest of their extended family — challenged Reigns to “Tribal Combat,” a no-holds-barred match. At stake is the undisputed WWE universal championship and, seemingly, status as “Tribal Chief.” Momentum is key with only days remaining until their deeply personal match.

Two matches have been announced for SmackDown. Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar meet in a mentor vs. student showdown on SmackDown. Mysterio and Escobar, both members of the LWO faction, won preliminary bouts to advance to the finals of the United States Championship Invitational. Karl Anderson and Karrion Kross also collide. The ominous Kross attacked The Good Brothers two weeks ago as an act of vengeance on their stablemate AJ Styles.

CBS Sports is with you all night with recaps and highlights of all the action beginning at 8 p.m. ET from Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.
