WWE SmackDown results: Live recap, grades as Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre go face-to-face
Sheamus #Sheamus
Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre anchor WWE SmackDown ahead of their main event title fight at WWE Clash at the Castle. McIntyre has been clashing with The Usos — Reigns’ cousins and associates — in the absence of the undisputed WWE universal champion. McIntyre will have his chance to measure up the opposition at Friday’s show from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
McIntyre cemented himself as No. 1 contender for Reigns’ championship by defeating Sheamus several weeks ago. His road to Reigns has been riddled with obstacles. The Usos and Sami Zayn continually blindside and interfere with McIntyre. The sudden returns of Karrion Kross and Scarlett were another thorn in McIntyre’s side. McIntyre has repeatedly criticized Reigns for being a “part-time” champion who does not regularly appears on WWE programming.
Two matches have been confirmed for the milestone 1,200th episode of SmackDown. A “Fatal 5-Way” match will determine the next contender for Gunther’s intercontinental championship. Ricochet, Madcap Moss, Sheamus, Happy Corbin and Sami Zayn are in the mix. Plus, the vacant women’s tag team title tournament continues with a quarterfinal bout pitting Natalya and Sonya Deville vs. NXT’s Toxic Attraction.
CBS Sports is with you all night with recaps and highlights of all the action from the Bell Centre in Montreal.
