Ten-time WWE world champion Brock Lesnar has reportedly been removed from WWE’s creative plans for WrestleMania 40.

According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, there had been internal discussions about a match between Lesnar and intercontinental champion Gunther at WrestleMania in April, but the plan is no longer on the table.

Lesnar last appeared on WWE programming in August when he lost to Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam, but most fans seemingly expected him to make his return at the Royal Rumble last week in anticipation of WrestleMania.

However, that didn’t happen, and it may be due to the fact that someone matching Lesnar’s description was named in a lawsuit filed against WWE.

Former WWE staffer Janel Grant filed a lawsuit against WWE, former WWE chairman and CEO Vince McMahon and former WWE head of talent relations John Laurinaitis last week in which she alleged that she was sexually assaulted and trafficked.

In the lawsuit, Grant mentioned a WWE and UFC star who was sent explicit videos of her by McMahon during contract negotiations.

According to Khadeeja Safdar of the Wall Street Journal, people familiar with the matter identified the wrestler as Lesnar.

Grant alleged that the wrestler, who is believed to be Lesnar, asked her to send a video of herself urinating. McMahon allegedly told Grant that she would have to have sex with Lesnar as part of his new contract, and while Lesnar said he wanted to “set a play date,” a snowstorm in December 2021 canceled his plans.

Per Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t Subhojeet Mukherjee of Ringside News), Lesnar was supposed to be in the men’s Royal Rumble match, but when the decision was made to pull him, he was replaced by NXT star Bron Breakker.

Breakker reportedly did everything in the Rumble that Lesnar was supposed to do, including having a showdown with Gunther.

The 46-year-old Lesnar has long been one of WWE’s biggest stars and draws, routinely headlining premium live events and competing for world titles.

A match against Gunther at WrestleMania would have been significant since Gunther is the longest-reigning intercontinental champion in WWE history at over 600 days.

Now, it looks as though Gunther will have to move on to a different opponent such as Breakker, and it is fair to wonder if Lesnar’s time in WWE has come to an end.
