WWE Royal Rumble 2023 results: Mountain Dew Pitch Black match

Mountain Dew #MountainDew

The story so far: The return of Bray Wyatt was one of the hottest things in pro wrestling last fall. Fans ate up all of his White Rabbit teases (especially folks who are very online) and were legitimately overjoyed to see him back in the fold. Fast forward three and a half months and ... Wyatt still hasn't wrestled. That, at least, will change, and LA Knight has proven to be a good foil for him, expressing our own confusion and disbelief that Wyatt and Uncle Howdy aren't the same person. Unless they are. It feels like this saga has divided the WWE Universe into people who can't get enough of Wyatt and are on to the last stop, and those who have tired of how slowly his tale is playing out. Since no onw knows what to expect from this match, there's no way of knowing if it will help or hurt. Plenty of folks also seem irritated by the blatant product placement involved, but we love Mountain Dew, so we aren't among them. What should happen: No way Wyatt loses this, or else all of the theatrics were pretty much for naught. Let Knight be brave and put up a good fight, but Bray needs to go over. Also hoping WWE actually lets us see what's going on. What will probably happen: Wyatt wins, either with help from or despite Uncle Howdy. We never get any clarity about the unanswered questions in his story, though, so his diehard fans call this genius and lots of other people roll their eyes. © Provided by SMG The story so far: The return of Bray Wyatt was one of the hottest things in pro wrestling last fall. After LA Knight makes his way to the ring, a lengthy promo video plays to summarize the feud to date. Bray Wyatt enters through the glowing door, wearing some eye black, and appears to pass at least one of the Firefly Funhouse characters on his way in.

The ropes and Knight’s ring gear are glowing in the dark under black lights, as are some of the paint details on Wyatt’s face and arms. The Pitch Black logo in the middle of the ring is glowing brightly, as are Wyatt’s contacts, which are red.

Outside the ring, Knight smashes Wyatt into the steel steps, but Bray immediately retaliates by chucking LA over the barricade. Knight leaps from the barricade to send both men through the announce table, scattering neon … something everywhere.

As they battle back to the ring, Wyatt regains some momentum, but Knight pops him with a kendo stick several times, including once off the top turnbuckle. He eats a clothesline in response, then a Sister Abigail, and that’s a three count.

After the fall, Wyatt puts on a mask, and Knight tries to hold him off with a kendo stick. Bray no-sells several shots and keeps coming, eventually catching Knight with the Mandible Claw back on a side stage.

Wyatt looks up and sees Uncle Howdy up on a tower or scaffolding of some sort, and Howdy drops a huge flying elbow to send Knight through the stage. Demonic versions of the Firefly Funhouse characters then appeared above the tower.
