Roman Reigns beat Sami Zayn at WWE Elimination Chamber 2023 last night.
The match, given the incredible story that has been told between The Bloodline and Sami Zayn, was one of the most highly-anticipated title bouts in quite some time.
But it was Roman that picked up the win, despite many fans feeling as if Sami should have won, especially given the show was in his hometown of Montreal.
What happened at WWE Elimination Chamber 2023?
As noted, during last night’s Elimination Chamber show, Sami was beaten by Roman in his hometown of Montreal.
The crowd were massively behind Sami, even booing Roman out of the building as he made his entrance, which you can see for yourself by clicking here.
The backing of Sami continued into the match, with the fans in Canada clearly really wanting to see the former NXT Champion dethrone Reigns.
In fact, the pop that Zayn got after kicking out of one of Roman’s Spears during the match was genuinely out-of-this-world.

From watching the clip, it’s clear that the fans in Montreal thought the match was over once Roman hit the Spear, so seeing Sami kick out was huge for them.
Ultimately, Zayn didn’t win the match, but he stood tall to close out the show, laying out Reigns with some help from former friend and rival Kevin Owens.
During the match, Zayn accidentally hit Jey Uso with a Spear, which could give fans a good indication of the pair’s direction for WrestleMania 39.

Latest news on Roman Reigns & Sami Zayn
Now that’s beaten Sami, it’s officially confirmed that Roman is going to be defending his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 39 against Cody Rhodes.
Rhodes, who won the 2023 Royal Rumble last month, is the most likely candidate WWE has had in quite some time to dethrone Reigns and take the title off him.
Sami, despite not being Roman, is still expected to be in a title match at WrestleMania, with various reports stating that he’ll team with Kevin Owens to take on The Usos at WrestleMania 39.
Owens and Zayn are expected to properly get back on the same page and go after The Usos’ Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship at the biggest show of the year.
