How entertaining can a squash match be at WrestleMania? On night 1 of WrestleMania 39, the answer was better than you think, thanks to the returning Pat McAfee and an NFL star.

As the host of WrestleMania 39, The Miz and Snoop Dogg announced the attendance as 80,497 and Snoop mused that the only thing that could make the night better is if Miz himself had a match. The A-Lister claimed he sent out an open challenge that no one answered.

But to his surprise, someone arrived anyway: McAfee. The former SmackDown commentator joined Miz and Snoop in the ring and accepted Miz’s fake challenge. Miz tried to weasel out by saying he couldn’t make matches official, but Snoop decided he could, and since a ref was on hand, he said the match was on.

McAfeee didn’t need any help, getting in all of the offense inside the ring. After getting thrown to the outside, The Miz picked a fight with San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle in the crowd. That turned out to be a bad move, as Kittle ran him over with a clothesline, and McAfee executed a somersault plancha to the floor.

Back in the ring, McAfee punted Miz and got the pin. Michael Cole was ecstatic, while Corey Graves was despondent. Not a bad night’s work for McAfee, who got to ride off into the sunset with another WrestleMania victory in his pocket.
