Aspiring medical students whose A-level grades fail to get them a place studying in the UK are travelling abroad to qualify
Universities in countries such as Ukraine, Latvia and Bulgaria have places for British students. Doctors who qualify in those countries can apply for a General Medical Council registration allowing them to practise in the UK.
Danyaal Ahmed, 19, had a place at Manchester University to study medicine, but his results suffered because of the predicted grades system imposed during Covid.
