WORLD JUNIORS: Alex Holtz’s World Class Pass

Alexander Holtz and the Three Crowns improve their tournament record to 2-0-0 after a 4-0 win over Austria. Sweden has had an unbelievable run in World Junior competition in the round-robin portion of the tournament, Monday night was the 54th consecutive victory for Sweden.

Skating as one of the wingers on Sweden’s top line, the 18-year-old’s first point of the tournament came off of a toe drag and backhanded pass to teammate Lucas Raymond who scored Sweden’s fourth goal. 

Come for the pass, stay for the massive smile in celebration! 

In Sunday night’s late game, there was a stunning upset in a game that featured three Devils prospects. 

Between the Czech Republic and Russia, it was the Czech team that beat out the Russian squad that features Shakir Mukhamadullin and Arseni Gritsyuk. 

Devils prospect Jaromir Pytlik is on the Czech team, however, he was not dressed for the game.

The Czech Republic pulled off a 2-0 shutout over Russia to register their first win of the tournament. They are 1-1-0 to date, scoring three goals and conceding seven. 

The Russian’s are also 1-1-0 and have both scored and conceded five goals.

UP NEXT: On Tuesday, the Devils have five prospects in action. Patrick Moynihan and the USA take on Pytlik’s Czech Republic at 2 pm, followed by Dawson Mercer and Team Canada versus Switzerland at 6 pm. The late game will feature Mukhamadullin and Gritsyuk against Austria in the late game (9:30 pm).
