Wordle Today #467 Hints, Clues And Answer For Thursday, September 29th

I think Thursday is my favorite day for Wordles, despite me previously noting that Wednesday is for Wordlers (is that a T-shirt yet?). I like it because I always say to myself Thor’s Day instead of Thursday and Thor—and I’m not specifically referencing the superhero here, more the actual Norse god of thunder—is a badass. (Don’t get me wrong, I like the MCU version, too, but the old Norse gods were decidedly more cruel and fascinating than Chris Hemworth’s version).

In any case, it’s a good day to do Wordles is all I’m saying. Maybe not if you’re a god of thunder. You’re probably too busy smiting things and being mysterious and charging into various bloody battles. But for us mere mortals, well, puzzle solving typically beats gory melees—and I say this as a sword collector.

Okay, let’s do this Wordle!

I picked bread today because I’ve been baking lots of bread lately.

I’ve been making mostly a Dutch Oven artisan bread that’s extremely crunchy on the outside and soft as clouds on the inside. Smeared with butter, or dipped in balsamic vinegar and olive oil, it’s a real treat.

Turns out, bread was the perfect opening guess, leaving me with just 11 options to pick from, though of course I didn’t know this at the time. Wordle Bot still only gave me a 70% “info gained” score which I’m going to chock up to Wordle Bot being a filthy no-good knave.

Moving on… Showy actually got me down to just three remaining choices, but I don’t love the word in retrospect. Looking back, I realize I never even eliminated the ‘I’ at all. That makes me question my third guess as well, though salad goes nicely with bread I think we can all agree.

At this point, however, I was pretty sure I knew the correct answer and guessed scald, which is what happens when you burn yourself with hot water or steam—but not fire.

Wordle Bot informs me that he could have solved this in three and would have thanks to starting his guesses out with slate. But I’ll take bread over slate any day of the week, because I’m not a stupid robot.
