Women expose men for bizarre Roman Empire trend: Why guys ‘think about it every day’

Roman Empire #RomanEmpire

Ladies, ask the men in your life how often they think about the Roman Empire — the answer might surprise you.

In a new TikTok trend, women describe discovering that their partners and male friends think about the Roman Empire — a period of time that lasted from 27 B.C. to 476 A.D. — more often than anyone could imagine.

Rev. Kelsey Lewis Vincent uncovered the secret fixation many males have with the historical epoch after coming across an Instagram video online.

“I saw an IG Reel that said something along the lines of ‘Women have no idea how often the men in their lives think about the Roman Empire,’” she wrote. “So I asked my husband: ‘How often do you think about the Roman Empire?’ And without missing a beat he said ‘Every day.’ YALL! Why!?”

The tweet soon went viral, garnering more than 7.5 million views and 25,900 likes as of Thursday morning.

It’s prompted hundreds of women to share the responses they’re getting when they pose the question to the men in their lives.

One user posted a TikTok with 1.2 million views asking her husband how often he thinks about that turbulent epoch, to which he responded: “All the time. I just mentioned it to you today … Every boy you’ve ever met is like, ‘I wonder if I could survive in the Roman Legion,’ like, that’s a normal thing.”

Another shared that she asked her husband the same question before he began engaging her in a 45-minute conversation about the Roman Empire.

“It’s actually fascinating,” she declares in the caption of the video, which has gained 5 million views.

Another woman similarly took to social media saying her partner had confessed to having a fixation on the Roman Empire.

He attempted to explain why, saying the Empire’s influence on language, architecture, law, literature and the military can still be seen today.

“Every time I’m watching a show, such as “Succession,” I’m thinking about the Roman Empire,” the man explained. “Whenever I see beautiful architecture, I’m thinking about the Roman Empire. When I’m thinking about control and men, I’m thinking about the Roman Empire.”

Meanwhile, the viral trend has amused many, who also took to Twitter to say they think about the era frequently due to its continuing impact on the present.

“The TikTok trend of women texting men how often they think of the Roman Empire and being shocked by men saying ‘daily’ or ‘weekly’ are killing me,” one wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “Probably 3-5 times a week for me.”

“It’s amazing, the women cannot fathom the answers of ‘once a day’ ‘few times a week’ etc.,” another amused male commented. “Hilarious stuff.”
