Film fans have told of their shock after it emerged that children’s favourite Winnie The Pooh is being given a horror movie makeover, saying it’s going to give people nightmares.

AA Milne’s honey-loving bear is being turned into a creepy killer in the movie Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey – with new pictures showing the character in a much darker light than people are used to.

One snap shows Pooh holding a sledgehammer while standing in front of someone tied up in the road, while in another he is sneaking up on a woman in a hot tub with a character who looks a lot like Piglet beside him.

Fans have flocked to Twitter to share their thoughts on the slasher flick, which is apparently being directed by Rhys Frake-Waterfield.

One posted: “That Winnie the Pooh film looks terrifying. Absolutely not.”

“I’m going to see that Winnie the Pooh face in my nightmares,” said another.

One tweeted: “Bro just told me that there’ll be a new Winnie the Pooh movie. I was so excited & I searched for it bcoz Pooh bear was really my fave then I got shocked on what I saw.”

“This feels so disrespectful to the people who made Winnie 100 years ago for the entertainment and innocence of children,” said another person.

“I won’t even be surprised if kids will be traumatised after hearing about this movie thinking it’s anything close to the REAL Winnie the Pooh.”

“I gotta say, as much as I love dark and twisted takes on childhood stories and characters, this one feels really wrong to me,” someone else said.

Another person tweeted: “Like we’re traumatised enough as it is. Why try to make it worse by making a horror of fricking WINNIE THE POOH.

“Like, that’s actually psychotic. Uncalled for. Unwarranted. Unwanted. Unnecessary.”

However, plenty of other people said they were looking forward to the film.
