Williams’ F1 radio to message to Nicolas Latifi during Monaco GP practice

Latifi #Latifi

Nicholas Latifi has been under immense pressure lately as he fights to improve his Formula 1 race results.

On top of dealing with his current performance woes, he is also playing second fiddle to Alex Albon, his teammate.

During their Monaco Grand Prix practice, the Williams team sent Latifi a radio message which essentially told him to follow Albon around the track as he may learn something from him.

The Canadian driver currently sits last in the Drivers’ Championship, having yet to secure any points, and he has been out-qualified by Albon in five of the six races he has participated in this year.

Whilst Latifi is certain he can match Albon’s performance, it has been called into question whether he will remain with the Williams team having had such a poor start to his season. The latest antics from his team seem to be igniting that debate further as there is a clear lack of confidence in his abilities.

Speaking about matching the Thai-British driver he said; “It’s a question of confidence. I’m convinced I can drive as fast as Alex, who had a shorter learning curve with the new car.”

With something left to prove and unrelenting motivation, Latifi’s presence on the track is one to keep an eye on as he tries to show his team what he’s got to offer.

Elsewhere, Lewis Hamilton’s problems continued as he faced further technical difficulties during his practice session.

Hamilton has had a difficult start to the season and currently sits in 6th in the driver standings.

The seven-time World champion and winner of over 100 Grand Prix is growing increasingly agitated at the car.

During a practice on Friday he reportedly got into the team radio and said: “I am f***ing losing my mind. I need elbow pads in this cockpit because it is bouncing so much.”

Toto Wolff was quick to support the star driver and once again called the Mercedes “undriveable”.

Mercedes have been experiencing countless difficulties with their 2022 car, but it is the tight suspension that seems to be causing the most trouble at the minute.

Wolff and the team will be working tirelessly to ensure the car is ready for qualifying.
