He was recognised for his efforts by winning the Ligue 1 Young Player of the Season award.

The Gunners signed Saliba from St Etienne in 2019 for £27million.

And he is due to return to Arsenal this summer, where he is yet to make a professional appearance.

But according to RMC Sport, Marseille is where Saliba wants to play his football going forward.

Marseille manager Jorge Sampaoli has made re-signing Saliba a top priority, however, OM chiefs are struggling to find an economic solution.

Finishing in a Champions League spot could help Marseille fund a move for the defender.

Saliba recently showed off customised Nike shoes on his Instagram story with WS2 on the back.

The 21-year-old donned the No2 shirt for Marseille and it could be a possible hint as to where he will play his football next term.

Marseille may also face competition for Saliba’s signature with Serie A league leaders AC Milan rumoured to be interested.

Milan are reportedly ready to ask the Gunners whether they are willing to let him leave on loan again during the summer or even sell permanently.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has previously hinted that he would be willing to give the ace an opportunity to impress at the Emirates.
