  • Jose Mourinho’s future at Tottenham has come into question after recent form
  • Spurs have seen their European hopes take a blow and are six points off fourth

  • Maurizio Sarri could be in line to replace Jose Mourinho as Tottenham boss, according to reports.

Mourinho’s future at Spurs has been called into question following a run of poor results and a series of outbursts against his own players.

The Portuguese saw his side lose yet more ground on the top four this weekend after throwing away a 1-0 lead to lose 3-1 at home to his former club Manchester United.

And now, according to Rai Sports, the powers that be are already looking to possible replacements, with Sarri high on that list.

The Italian television channel, as per Sport Witness, reports that the north London club are looking at the former Chelsea boss and would ‘like him to replace Jose Mourinho’. They do, however, acknowledge that no formal approach has been made yet to the coach’s agent, Fali Ramadani.

Sarri is without a club having parted company with Juventus last summer, despite leading the Turin side to the Scudetto – their ninth title in succession.

It is similar to the way he left Chelsea the previous season, parting company despite winning the Europa League and delivering a Champions League finish.

The same source also claims that Napoli are interested in bringing Sarri back to the south of Italy, with Gennaro Gattuso seemingly on his way out.

Mourinho is currently under heavy scrutiny following a 10th defeat of the season in the Premier League.

The 58-year-old hit out at his own players after they failed to hold on to their 2-1 advantage against Newcastle on April 4, claiming it was a case of ‘same coach, different players’ when asked why his side were failing to see out games – something that was recognised as a specialty of Mourinho’s during his time at Chelsea.

Spurs are currently sat seventh in the table, six points behind West Ham in fourth – the final Champions League spot.
