Talented Wicklow guitarist Cathy McGuinness and her critically acclaimed indie rock band the Pillow Queens are set to appear on the Late Late Show on RTE One this Friday, at 9:35 p.m.

rklow native Cathy and band members Pamela Connolly, Sarah Corcoran and Rachel Lyons – who hail from who hail from north Dublin and Kildare – will appear alongside a line up of guests, including Amber Barrett, Prue Leith, Trisha Lewis, Emma Doran and Nathan Carter.

Established in 2016, The Pillow Queens have worked tirelessly for the past seven years to develop a devoted following and become an integral part of Ireland’s thriving indie scene.

Their first EP ‘Calm Girls’ was extremely well-received and led to a series of live shows in Ireland and the United Kingdom, including Electric Picnic and All Together Now, where they shared a stage with the likes of IDLES, Soak and Pussy Riot.

The band released their debut album ‘In Waiting’ in 2020 to critical acclaim. The beautifully raw album offered snapshots of queer romances, family dynamics and general growing pains. Their second studio album ‘Leave the Light On’ was released in January 2022 and received similarly glowing praise.

Over the past couple of years the band have made huge inroads into the notoriously difficult north American market, appearing on ‘The Late Late Show with James Corden Show’ twice, in 2021 and 2022, where they met huge stars like actor Mark Wahlberg. Suffice to say, Cathy and co are unlikely to be intimidated by Tubridy and his guests on Friday night!
