Whoopi Goldberg Can’t Hide Her Frustration on ‘The View’ After Alyssa Farah Griffin Tries to End Hot Topics Segment

The View is really going rouge amidst the ongoing writers’ strike. After some bumpy moments last week, the show got next-level awkward today as Whoopi Goldberg tried to urge Alyssa Farah Griffin to speak at the end of a segment, despite the cue music hinting it was time to cut to commercial.

During a serious discussion about gun control and the latest mass shooting in Allen, Texas, Griffin was up to speak at the very end of the debate, but had only a few seconds to say her piece as The View theme music began to play.

Goldberg, however, was just fine keeping the discussion going.

“Spit it out,” she told Griffin, who countered that her point was “too long” to make then, but Goldberg repeated, “Spit it out!”

Griffin attempted, beginning, “Well, I was just going to say,” before cutting herself off as the background music continued to play.

“We’ll come back,” she said with a wave of her hand.

But Goldberg wasn’t having it.

“No, spit it out!” she told Griffin for the third time.

“Don’t worry. It’s too long to explain,” Griffin insisted, before turning to someone off camera, likely a producer, and throwing her hands up in confusion.

Goldberg was not amused, looking at the camera with a straight face and a shake of her head as Griffin could be heard saying, “We’ll do it another day.”

As the camera panned out to capture the full Hot Topics table, a clearly flustered Griffin was shown smoothing down her hair and placing her hands back in her lap as Ana Navarro commented, “There’ll be another shooting,” while Goldberg flashed a look of disgust, simply said, “Yeah,” and pursing her lips as the segment came to a close.

Griffin also ticked off Goldberg just last week, when she tried to move along a segment about the Met Gala and focus on fashion, not the controversial designed and theme of the evening, Karl Lagerfeld.

“But on a lighter note, can I tell you about my favorite looks?” she asked the panel during the May 2 show, only for Goldberg to step in and say, “Wait, wait, wait. Before you move us on, let’s make sure that we’ve exhausted this conversation.”

Griffin later apologized, telling Goldberg, “Sorry, I jumped the gun there,” to which she replied, “It’s okay. I got you, I caught you.”

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
