Who is Jordan Poole? 5 facts you need to know about the Warriors’ young star

Poole #Poole

With the Golden State Warriors, all everyone talks about is Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green.

And rightfully so. Those dudes are multiple-time NBA champions. That’s the core that has gotten things done over and over and over again for the Warriors when they’ve needed it to.

They’re proven veterans who have made it to the league’s mountaintop. Plus, it’s been a long time since we’ve seen them play basketball together like this. They’re just that good.

But the new guard on the team deserves to be talked about, too. I mean that quite literally — Jordan Poole deserves your attention and, since you’re reading this, he’s obviously got it to some extent.

Want to know more about the Warriors’ rising star? Here are five fun facts you probably didn’t know just yet:

Poole was picked 28th overall by the Warriors in the 2019 draft coming out of Michigan.

He’d played at Michigan for two seasons alongside other NBA names like Mo Wagner and Iggy Brazdekis. In his sophomore year he’d averaged 12.8 points per game while shooting 36.9% from deep. His speed, quickness and shooting ability are what drew the Warriors to him.

Throughout his first two years with the Warriors, Poole actually played for the Warriors who were fairly short on talent and fairly short on wins.

He clearly needed to improve quite a bit, so he spent time down in the NBA G-League working on his game and finding his spots. In 14 games over the course of two seasons, he’s dominated averaging 24.2 points per game on pretty good efficiency. His rookie season in the G-League was specifically spectacular.

He’s been looked at as one of the G-League’s most recent success stories and he credits the league a lot for his development.

Well, at least for this season, anyway. Steph Curry shot 92.1% from the free throw line this season, which is quite obviously impressive and nearly impossible to beat.

The only way to beat it was to lead the league in free throw shooting percentage. And that’s exactly what Poole did — he led the NBA at 92.5%. That’s super impressive.

It’s also why you see him shooting technical free throws sometimes instead of Curry. In the rare event that happens, you know why.

The two have arguments all the time about who the more popular player in Milwaukee is. Poole says its Looney, but Looney swears it’s Poole.

That’s the best.

Seriously. Jordan Poole is a cat guy. He’s even brought in stray cats before, which is pretty awesome.

Warriors Wire has more.

“On Tuesday, Jordan Poole, the No. 28 overall draft pick by the Golden State Warriors, took steps toward putting down roots in San Francisco. According to Nikki Tran at SFgate.com, Poole started his Bay-area feline family by adopting two brother cats: Kota and Kai.”

Jordan Poole, the cat lover. Gotta love it.
