Which mascot head did Lee Corso pick between Ohio State football and Notre Dame on ESPN’s College GameDay?

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A new college football season means another year of watching Lee Corso throw on the mascot heads of teams as he picks the winners of games and the Ohio State-Notre Dame game is up first.

The Buckeyes will host to Fighting Irish in a primetime game on ABC and the days festivities got started with ESPN’s College GameDay being on campus. The GameDay crew of Corso, Reece Davis, Kirk Herbstreit and Desmond Howard is often joined by a celebrity guest picker with rapper Jack Harlow being the first of this season.

Howard picked OSU — who’s considered a 17.5-point favorite — first though the Michigan alum admitted he thinks the game will be close. Herbstreit joined him in that sentiment. So did Harlow, who even admitted that there was no scenario where he’d go against Ohio State while on the campus surrounded by hundreds of fans.

“I could’ve grown up a Notre Dame fan and you could not pay me to say Notre Dame,” Harlow said.

As is custom, Corso serves as the anchor, first buttering up the crowd before revealing his choice. Sometimes that includes a playful bit where he switches up heads at the last minute. Not this time.

Corso first spent some time discussing his affection with both programs with Herbstreit, highlighting how Brutus the Buckeyes was the first head he ever wore on the show. The two discussed the variety of legends on hand for this game, and Herbstreit even reminded him how he told him off-camera that he might not even make a pick. Then Corso made the choice the hometown fans could be happy with.

“This is the toughest pick I’ve ever made,” Corso said. “I’m Catholic, and I hate to go against Notre Dame. But there’s only one legend that counts: Brutus. Go Ohio State. Go.”
