Where are the stars of Phoenix Nights now?

PHOENIX Nights is nineteen-years-old this year, but its quality still lives in the memory.

Some of the stars of the show are now some of the most recognisable faces on British televsion

Peter Kay

The Bolton News:

After the show he co-created and wrote ended, Peter has had a busy twenty years.

Following his turn as Brian Potter, he has starred in shows ranging from Little Britain to Doctor Who and has had record-breaking sell-out tours.

His award-winning comedy ‘Car Share’ also aired on the BBC.

The Bolton comedian has not been seen much in public since taking a break from touring in 2017.

However, he has recently launched a Youtube channel and appeared in pre-recorded footage for charity screenings of Phoenix Nights.

Paddy McGuinness

The Bolton News:

The Bolton star has made a name for himself as a popular television presenter these days.

The funnyman has hosted popular dating show Take Me Out, since 2010, which has broadcast over 100 episodes.

He is currently hosting Top Gear, while he often appears on shows with Keith Lemon.

Dave Spikey

The Bolton News:

Starring as Jerry St. Clair, Spikey’s character had more than his fair share of bad luck.

But in real life the comedian’s career has been more rosy – despite a feud with Peter Kay, who Spikey claimed had taken the credit for Phoenix Nights.

Since Phoenix Nights ended he’s been seen on several TV shows including 8 Out of 10 Cats, Countdown and The Wright Stuff, and he also ­hosted a reworked version of darts gameshow Bullseye. He’s also written a series of memoirs.

Neil Fitzmaurice

Fitzmaurice played club DJ Ray Von and his catchphrase “shabba” can still be heard in conversations across the country.

Since then he has played Jeff in the hit Channel 4 comedy Peep Show, and has also starred in Waterloo Road, Benidorm and Truckers.

He also played former Liverpool FC manager Rafa Benitez in the 2009 film Fifteen Minutes That Shook the World – Fitzmaurice is a lifelong supporter of the club.

Ted Robbins

Den Perry, played by Robbins, was Brian Potter’s rival. He owned the neighbouring club The Banana Grove and was constantly a thorn in Potter’s side.

Robbins went on to star in children’s TV show The Slammer and in panto.

In 2015, during the opening night of the Phoenix Nights Live tour at the Manchester Arena, he suffered a heart attack on stage. He currently works as a presenter on BBC Radio Lancashire.

Sally Lindsay

Lindsay played Ray’s girlfriend Tracy Burns.

The actress appeared in the video for (Is This The Way To) Amarillo but her most famous role has been as Rovers Return landlady Shelley Unwin in Coronation Street.

Lindsay played the character from 2001 to 2006 and won a British Soap Awards Best Actress prize. She’s married to former The Style Council ­drummer Steve White.

Sian Gibson

Gibson played Mary in the show. She has been a close friend of Kay for years and starred with him in Car Share.

She has also starred in Inside No.9 and Death in Paradise, as well as recent comedy ‘Dial M for Middlesborough’.

Justin Moorhouse

Moorhouse played club helper Young Kenny.

The comedian is a common face on the club circuit and can often be seen in shows around Manchester.

He has also appeared in Coronation Street and 2009 film ‘Looking for Eric.’

Alex Lowe

Alex played useless psychic Clinton Baptiste.

He has starred in various radio shows and still tours in character as Baptiste.
