It was a quite wonderful night for Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold on Wednesday.
The Reds finished off their Champions League group-stage campaign with a 1-1 draw away to Midtjylland last night.
And with Liverpool boss Jordan Henderson benching Jordan Henderson, Alexander-Arnold, the local lad, was given the armband.
The 22-year-old defender revealed to the club’s official website afterwards that he was ‘extremely proud’ to skipper his boyhood side on a stage like this.
And former Liverpool left-back Jose Enrique has predicted on Instagram that Alexander-Arnold will take over that responsibility from Henderson – who got the armband back on 61 minutes when he came on – in the long term.

It must be said that as of right now, Alexander-Arnold is the most obvious candidate to take over the captaincy from Henderson.
That being said, the Liverpool midfielder only turned 30 in June and obviously still has a lot left to offer the Anfield club.
He won’t be vacating the captaincy anytime soon but, as proven last night, Alexander-Arnold definitely has the appetite and desire to succeed him.
