When to pick Jerry Jeudy in your fantasy football league draft

Fantasy football season is in the air and the unique offseason is causing more questions than answers as we enter our fantasy football drafts. Today we focus on Denver Broncos WR Jerry Jeudy and his fantasy football potential this year.

Jerry Jeudy’s fantasy football ADP

Jeudy isn’t necessarily going early in fantasy drafts, coming in with an ADP (average draft position on MyFantasyLeague.com) of 77.26, which puts him at about the 10th round in standard 10-team leagues. That’s 34th among all wide receivers, right behind Cowboys WR Michael Gallup.

Reasons to draft Jerry Jeudy

  • Jeudy won’t have any trouble earning playing time, likely working as a starter alongside WR Courtland Sutton, so long as he beats out KJ Hamler and DaeSean Hamilton.
  • After QB Drew Lock took over as the starter, the Broncos offense found its rhythm. Sutton led all Broncos receivers with 22 catches and 280 yards on 40 targets in the five games Lock started, while Hamilton was second with 17 catches for 191 yards. Jeudy should see at least six passes come his way per game, and it’s reasonable for him to average more than 50 yards a week like Sutton did with Lock.
  • Jeudy was one of the top receivers in the NFL Draft this year but somehow slipped to the Broncos at No. 15. He should have a greater impact than Las Vegas Raiders WR Henry Ruggs, who was drafted ahead of Jeudy, and possibly Dallas Cowboy WR CeeDee Lamb, who’s going ahead of Jeudy in fantasy drafts.
  • Reasons not to draft Jerry Jeudy

  • Lock is still somewhat of a question mark at quarterback due to his inexperience after playing just five games last year. If he can’t play at the level he did to finish last season, the Broncos offense could struggle.
  • The Broncos aren’t a pass-heavy team and should run the ball a healthy amount with RBs Melvin Gordon and Phillip Lindsay. That could take targets away from Jeudy.
  • Jeudy is a rookie who didn’t have OTAs or minicamp to work through, limiting his practice time. He’s also had a few drops in practice, which was an issue last season at Alabama. It’s an easy way to lose snaps on offense.

Where should I draft Jerry Jeudy in fantasy football drafts?

Jeudy is a prime candidate to outplay his draft position. He’s joining a team that has very little proven talent at wide receiver and could use a playmaker like him on the outside for its young quarterback.

Receivers going ahead of him in fantasy drafts include Sutton, Gallup, Marquise Brown and Lamb, but Jeudy could have better numbers than each of them if Lock airs the ball out enough. Jeudy is dynamic in the open field and frequently made big plays after the catch at Alabama, which should translate to the NFL.

I would feel comfortable taking him ahead of Gallup, who will be fighting for targets with WRs Amari Cooper and Lamb. I’d also take Jeudy before Brown due to the run-heavy nature of the Baltimore Ravens’ offense.

The ninth round is a good spot to target Jeudy because his ceiling is high, even as a rookie. He’s pro-ready and can win all over the field, giving Lock a dynamic target on the outside.
