When birthday boy Suga showed off his ‘shy boy’ side as BTS met Taylor Swift at Billboard Music Awards 2018

While BTS’ fandom ARMY boasts of millions and millions of fans from across the globe, there are many celebrities who are also major fans of the popular South Korean boy group. From John Cena to Shawn Mendes, everyone has nothing but praises to shower upon the global superstars. It was during their appearance at the Billboard Music Awards 2018; where they didn’t just enthral fans with an eye-popping performance but also won the Top Social Artist award for the second year in a row, when BTS met Taylor Swift.
Thanks to BTS’ EPISODE of the Billboard Music Awards 2018, which showed us the behind-the-scenes from the award ceremony, we got to witness how their interaction with the 10-time Grammy-winning musician went. While BTS was backstage in their waiting room, Swift entered and received a warm greeting from OT7. While congratulating the boy group, Taylor enquired about their performance before confessing how her mind was blown while watching Mic Drop MV. “I was like, ‘What am I watching? This is like the coolest thing.’ It was completely different than anything else. Yeah, I love it.” In response, an overwhelmed RM humbly said, “Thank you so much. It means a lot.”
Taylor and Namjoon asked at the same time if they could click a photo together which they simultaneously said they’d love to and we adored Joonie’s endearing laugh. Situating herself in between Suga and J-Hope, Swift put her arms around Sope’s shoulders. What ARMY couldn’t get over is how shy Yoongi; who celebrates his 28th birthday today, i.e. March 9, got next to T-Swift. P.S. Hobi holding onto RM’s shirt with his fingers didn’t go unnoticed either. After saying their thanks, good lucks, nice to meet you, see you next time and goodbyes, along with Jimin’s belly laugh, Suga explained in Korean, via YouTube channel Bangtan Subs’ translation, as to why he got shy. Yoong quipped, “She’s already tall and got even taller with high heels, so I was like what should I do?” J-Hope concluded BTS and Swift’s meeting perfectly as he said, “This is so amazing. Wow.”
BTS and Taylor then took to Twitter and Instagram to share their epic photo together as ARMY and Swifties unsurprisingly had a field day and were in a chaotic state of mind over the meet, hoping for a possible collaboration between the two powerhouses.
We can’t help but adore Yoongi’s ‘shy boy’ side when he met Taylor, especially because of his hilarious explanation.

Recently, BTS and Taylor were both confirmed in the full performer lineup for Grammys 2021. BTS received their first-ever Grammy nomination (first K-pop group to receive a Grammy nod) for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 single Dynamite.
On the other hand, Swift is nominated for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for her Billboard 200 No. 1 album Folklore, Song of the Year and Best Pop/Solo Performance for her Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 single Cardigan, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for Exile ft. Bon Iver and Best Song Written for Visual Media for Beautiful Ghosts. Grammys 2021 takes place on March 15, 5:30 am IST.
