It’s the second Victoria Day long weekend of the pandemic era, and a stay-at-home order remains in effect across the province.

Here’s a guide to what’s open and closed on the holiday Monday.

The Ottawa Citizen and Ottawa Sun will not publish a print edition on Monday. Websites will be updated throughout the weekend at Ottawacitizen.com and Ottawasun.com .

Shopping

With Victoria Day marking the unofficial start of gardening season, many garden centres and nurseries will be open on the statutory holiday, including locations attached to big-box stores like Walmart and Home Depot (though the stores will otherwise be closed).

Certain small stores and pharmacies, gas stations, restaurants and a few Ottawa retail areas are exempt from provincially mandatory holiday retail closures. It’s likely best to call ahead or look online to check if/when a particular business will be open. Those scheduled to be include the Rideau Street and Isabella Street Loblaws and Whole Foods at Lansdowne Park.

Booze

Three Beer Store locations will be open Monday (1860 Bank St., 1984 Baseline Rd. and 548 Montreal Rd.) from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

All LCBO stores will be closed.

City services

There won’t be any curbside green bin, recycling or garbage collection on Victoria Day; pickup will take place on Tuesday instead, and collection will be delayed by one day for the rest of the week. The same goes for multi-residential recycling and green-bin collection, but multi-residential garbage pickup will take place as scheduled. The Trail Waste Facility will be open, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The city’s 311 contact centre will remain open for urgent issues. You can reach a customer-service rep by calling 311 or 613-580-2400.

The sexual health and satellite clinics will be closed Monday, as will be the Site program office and supervised consumption services at 179 Clarence St. However, the Site mobile van will operate from 5 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Monday.

The Ottawa Public Health info centre will be closed on the holiday for general calls, but the OPH COVID-19 phone line (613-580-6744) will be available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

All city-run child care centres will be closed, and so will be the OPH baby helpline.

Transit

O-Train and bus service will follow a Sunday schedule on Victoria Day. You can find the holiday schedules on the OC Transpo website. Transpo customer service will operate from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at 613-741-4390.

Para Transpo will operate on a holiday service schedule on Monday, with all regular bookings automatically cancelled. Customers can book trips by calling 613-244-7272 or using the online system . The reservations line will be open Monday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the trip cancellation and general inquiries line, at 613-244-4636, will be open from 6 a.m. to midnight.

COVID-19

The COVID-19 testing sites at the Centretown, Somerset West and Sandy Hill community health centres, as well as the Heron care and testing centre will be closed Monday. The other COVID-19 assessment centres will be open for their regular hours of operation on Monday. You can find appointment-booking details on the OPH website .

Reopenings

Starting Saturday, more outdoor recreational amenities will be allowed to be open under provincial pandemic rules. These include golf courses, driving ranges, tennis and basketball courts, skate parks, and soccer and other sports fields.
