What’s being said nationally after Lions-Cowboys again ends in controversial fashion

Cowboys #Cowboys

ARLINGTON, TEXAS, — The Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys played an instant classic in prime-time action, and once again, the game from AT&T Stadium ended with a cloud of controversy hanging high.

Detroit scored in the final moments to come within an extra-point attempt of tying the game at 20 apiece. But Dan Campbell did as Dan Campbell does and rolled the dice with the two-point conversion attempt for the win. Jared Goff rolled out and hit Taylor Decker in the end zone for what would have been the go-ahead score, but the officials threw the flag for illegal touching.

Decker reported as eligible, essentially shifting to the third tight end. And Dan Skipper, who usually handles those duties, did not despite being announced over the intercom at the stadium as eligible before the snap. The officials flagged Decker for being ineligible, and essentially got them mixed up.

The Lions then lined up to go for the win again from the 7-yard line, and the Cowboys jumped offsides to give them another shot from their original spot. But Goff’s pass to James Mitchell fell short and that was it from Arlington.

This post will run through headlines and reactions from around the country, with a recap of what’s already come from us here with MLive’s Lions beat.
