What’s being said nationally after Lions beat Packers for fourth straight time

GREEN BAY, Wis. — The Detroit Lions (3-1) beat the Green Bay Packers (2-2) for the fourth straight time to take control of the NFC North and grab a little breathing room in their 34-20 win on Thursday night.

The Lions have now won twice in a row at Lambeau Field, with each of those coming under the lights in front of a national audience. And it’s worth noting the score makes this game seem much closer than it was, with the Lions scoring 27 unanswered points to smother the Packers in the first half.

Detroit’s defense was feisty again, notching five sacks with cornerback Jerry Jacobs intercepting two passes. Green Bay went into halftime with three first downs, two of those coming via penalty, so there wasn’t much room to work with in the first 30 minutes.

The Packers scored 14 unanswered points of their own to inch closer in the second half. But the Lions kept the clamps down, and rode bell-cow running back David Montgomery to the win. Montgomery ran 32 times for 121 yards and three touchdowns in the victory — his first against the Packers.

This post will run through headlines from around the country after Detroit’s strong prime-time showing:
