‘What’d you say bra?’: Smith’s fiery exchange with Sharks fan after sin binning

Storm star Brandon Smith was sin binned for backchatting to the referee in his side’s 28-6 loss on Thursday — and he had something to say to the Sharks fans that greeted him at the tunnel.
Smith took a run and after getting up to play the ball he shot some words off in the direction of referee Adam Gee.
Gee gave the hooker his marching orders and as he walked up the tunnel Sharks fans let him know what they thought.

Smith engaged in it and waved as he entered the tunnel before turning around to say to a fan “what’d you say bra?”
Coach Craig Bellamy look stunned as he watched on his biggest name players leave the field while the team was down 20 points.
“Brandon Smith sent to the sin bin while Melbourne the ball in attack,” Fox League commentator Warren Smith said.
“Some dissent to the referee and quite obviously not for the first time tonight.”
“An example of where the Melbourne Storm are at,” Braith Anasta added.

“Craig Bellamy will be filthy at this, he will not be happy at all… firstly by their performance — Brandon Smith has been far frim his best.
“10 in the bin, he’s waving to the crowd and he’s now arguing with fans so he’s got to get a grip, get him in the sheds and get him away from everyone.”
The irony of Brandon Smith being sin-binned at Cronulla’s home ground was not lost on Warren Smith, who was quick to remind viewers of when former Storm skipper and hooker Cameron Smith was famously binned for the first time in his career at the same stadium back in 2018.
“It’s not quite Cameron Smith getting sin binned and not quite the same reception Cameron got that night but a pretty hostile one as you would expect for Brandon Smith,” he said.
Meanwhile, coach Craig Bellamy condemned any form of disrespect towards match officials and explained “it won’t happen again”.
“I don’t know what he said, obviously we don’t want our players showing that sort of disrespect to the referee and I can only say it won’t happen again,” Bellamy said.
Bellamy also was confused as to Smith’s intentions, with his team holding momentum rolling forward.
It was also the first time in his 515 game coaching career he had seen an attacking player binned.
“I haven’t (seen that before), I don’t know why he would say something, it was probably our best set with the play-the-ball speed, but the referee did it for a reason,” Bellamy said.
“As I said, we don’t agree with everything that happens with the referees but we show respect and it is bad enough turning the ball over and giving away a penalty.
“I am pretty sure it isn’t going to happen again.”
