Orlando Magic shooting guard Evan Fournier is on his way to join the Boston Celtics in a deal made the morning of the NBA’s 2021 trade deadline, but what do we need to know about the 28-year-old wing?

To start with, the details of the deal are still fuzzy, but we do know a bit about what it will entail. There will, we know, a pair of second-round picks on their way to the Magic as one of the primary attractions of the trade. It has been reported that the Celtics will use some of their $28.5 million traded player exception (TPE) generated by the exit of Gordon Hayward in the offseason as well, but exactly how much is unclear given the full amount of Fournier’s expiring $17 million deal would put Boston over the hard cap.

It could see the Celtics send out a small salary such as Javonte Green’s, or perhaps work another deal to move Tristan Thompson or Daniel Theis as part of another trade to get there, depending on the timing of the trades.
