Clare and Waterford go head-to-head in this year’s Munster Championship opener in a mouth-watering clash for hurling fans.

And it’s been a tale of two chapters for both sides in 2021 as they prepared for this summer collision with five games in the Allianz Hurling League.

The Banner were left stunned by an opening day loss to Antrim followed by a late loss to Wexford, but steadied the ship against Laois before impressive wins over Dublin and Kilkenny in recent weeks.

Waterford too were unimpressive as they shipped five goals against Cork on hurling’s return, but they recovered and scored key victories over potential Munster rivals Limerick and Tipperary in the latter rounds.

With both teams on fine form and well prepared for this one, fans can expect to be treated to a cracker when the ball’s finally thrown in for the first time in this year’s Munster campaign.
