What the Puck: Spotlight shines on Canadiens’ Max Domi and Carey Price

Domi #Domi

The Canadiens’ $84-million goalie has been an enigma in recent years and so the biggest question is trying to figure out which Carey Price is going to turn up. Price has often been a slow starter in recent seasons, which doesn’t bode well for this series. But, on the other side of the coin, the 32-year-old for once is going into the playoffs well-rested.

It’s an incredible opportunity for Price. The bottom line is that goaltending is the only position where you could even possibly argue that the Canadiens have an advantage over the Penguins, and even there there’s no consensus. It’s true Matt Murray didn’t have a great regular season with Pittsburgh and no one would be shocked if at some point along the way in these playoffs Tristan Jarry becomes the Penguins’ starting goalie.

But you simply can’t discount that Murray — who’s 26! and has already won two Stanley Cups with the Penguins. He’s been there, done that, won that. Price has had very good playoffs, but he has never even been in the Stanley Cup final. So, how great would it be if Price came out and shut down a Penguins team that includes Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Jake Guentzel, Jason Zucker, Patrick Marleau and Kris Letang?

Last, but not least, Weise provided the funniest moment of the day Monday with his response to P.K. Subban after his former Canadiens teammate had tweeted out a video of him training with The Rock.

“Why do you look like an 8 yr old beside him”? Weise responded on Twitter.
