What is Jim Harbaugh’s record vs. Ohio State?

What is Jim Harbaugh’s record vs. Ohio State as the Michigan football coach? The former star quarterback is seeking his first win vs. the rival Buckeyes.

Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh was once a star quarterback in Ann Arbor and won many games, including a perfect 2-0 as the starter against Ohio State. However, as a head coach, that has not been the case against the Buckeyes.

In five attempts coming into last season, Harbaugh had fallen short against the Buckeyes, including a disaster in 2018, when Michigan entered the game as a top-5 team and proceeded to get blown out 62-39. There was also the controversial double-overtime loss in 2016.

As was the case, Harbaugh had been the subject of jokes and ridicule for his inability to beat Ohio State, specifically from ESPN’s Paul Finebaum, who proclaimed prior to the 2021 meeting that Harbaugh was incapable of accomplishing beating Ohio State.

If that doesn’t strike a nerve at all for Harbaugh and his players, they should also read social media and see just how they have been disrespected for their inability to beat their rivals, especially former Ohio State linebacker Bobby Carpenter’s comments on how they “took the easy way” out of the 2020 meeting that was canceled due to COVID.

Luckily, Harbaugh was finally able to get the monkey off of his back in 2021 with a 42-27 win in Ann Arbor over Ohio State.

However, the head coach’s record against the Michigan program’s biggest rival still isn’t all too much to write home about as he is now just 1-5 as the head coach at his alma mater. But now that the monkey is off of his back, he surely hopes to get that trending toward .500, especially considering the fact that the Wolverines still just have four wins in the rivalry since 2000 while Ohio State has 17 to their credit.
