What does Derrick Henry say during an NFL game?

The Tennessee Titans put a microphone on running back Derrick Henry during last week’s game, and the audio revealed the former Alabama All-American appears to go out of his way to make his teammates know what he thinks of them.

During the Titans’ 17-10 victory over the Houston Texans on Oct. 30, “I appreciate y’all” was heard multiple times from the two-time NFL rushing champion, especially for Tennessee’s offensive linemen.

During one break for the offense on the sideline, Henry said: “I’m proud to be y’all’s teammate. We’re family, bro.”

On Thursday during his weekly press conference, Henry was asked about his encouraging words as displayed on the Titans’ “Mic’d Up” segment.

“You just got to stay with it,” Henry said. “In the games, they’re going to be ups and downs, highs and lows, but you just got to stay with it, and just letting them know that we’re all behind them, we got each other’s back and to stick with it and a play will be made when it needs to be made.”

His teammates appeared to be listening to Henry, especially when he said: “We block them, I’m going.”

Henry became the third player in NFL history with six 200-yard rushing games by running for 219 yards and two touchdowns on 32 carries against the Texans.

This week, Henry and Tennessee square off against the Kansas City Chiefs at 7:20 p.m. CST Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo.
