White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany criticized Joe Biden for not calling for an end to “massive Super Spreader events,” held after his projected presidential victory.
“Where is @JoeBiden calling on the massive Super Spreader events held in his name to end,” McEnany wrote in a tweet, featuring a video of thousands of Biden supporters gathering in the streets outside of the White House.
After the former vice president was declared as the projected winner of the 2020 presidential election, between he and President Donald Trump, supporters were seen in New York, Philadelphia and Washington D.C. to celebrate.
While many of Biden’s supporters were seen wearing masks during their celebrations, many across Twitter criticized what they perceived as an apparent lack of social distancing.
“Lots of masks, little social distancing in front of the White House as thousands of Biden supporters begin their celebrations,” Twitter user Jorge Ventura Media wrote with a video showing the supporters outside the White House.

Following his projected win, announced by several news networks, Biden released a statement saying: “I am honored and humbled by the trust the American people have placed in me and in Vice President-elect Harris.”
“In the face of unprecedented obstacles, a record number of Americans voted, proving once again, that democracy beats deep in the heart of America,” the statement read.
The criticism for a lack of social distancing during the celebrations for Biden’s projected victory come as the U.S. has continued to see an increase in cases of the novel coronavirus, which causes the respiratory disease COVID-19.
On Friday, the U.S. recorded its third consecutive day of over 100,000 cases, while several states saw their record high single-day increases.
According to a tracker from Johns Hopkins University, there are currently over 9.8 million confirmed cases of the novel virus, as well as at least 236,642 deaths.
