West Ham transfer news: Moyes makes move for Tottenham wing-back target Joakim Maehle

West Ham have reportedly joined Tottenham in the chase for Atalanta wing-back Joakim Maehle this summer and are very keen to get a deal done.

The 25-year-old Denmark international enjoyed an impressive campaign under Gian Piero Gasperini in Italy, scoring three goals and providing two assists in 35 appearances across all competitions.

Maehle is also well known for his adaptability, having played on the left and right for the Serie A outfit.

And La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that a number of Premier League clubs are chasing his signature. Indeed, Tottenham were strongly linked with a move for Maehle last month, as Antonio Conte continues his hunt for a right-sided defender.

The report adds that while Atalanta are not actively looking to sell, Gasperini will not block an exit.

The Atalanta boss would be happy if his club are able to recoup around £15.5million. That would make them a healthy profit on the £11.9m they paid Genk for his services in January 2021.

Moyes wants Maehle on board to cover both West Ham wing-backs positions, having allowed Ryan Fredericks to leave this summer.

Aaron Cresswell and Vladimir Coufal are the current first-choice options but Maehle would provide strong competition.

The defender has already notched up 29 caps for Denmark, scoring an impressive nine goals in that time.
