We’re in an unhealthy relationship with Boris Johnson. It’s time to break the cycle of abuse

If you ask any expert on domestic abuse, they will tell you that the abused almost always returns to the abuser. It is a sad fact of life — no matter how awful, how grotesque, how humiliating, how risky, a victim will go back. As a country, I feel we are in danger of being that victim.

We are in the women’s shelter and vowing that, no, we will never let that vile monster back. And then the contrite text message lands. He’s on a plane. He’s making this huge romantic gesture — he’s coming back from a holiday in the Caribbean (how can he afford that?).
