Science Centre CEO Stephen Breslin said: “We wanted to win so badly that before the announcement we really felt quite sick with anticipation.

“Of course, we were hopeful, but there were some very strong competitors

“We were all absolutely delighted and we’re still buzzing today.”

The Glasgow’s Favourite Business Award was just one of the categories at this year’s Glasgow’s Business Awards which took place at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel.

Also in the running for the public vote were the Silverburn Shopping Centre, Marshall Travel, Sprigg, the Grand Central Hotel and Wasps Studios.

Stephen continued: “Everyone works so hard at the Science Centre day in and day out.

“We all love a wee pat on the back every now and again and in many respects, that’s what this is.

“There were 12 of us at the awards which is only a small proportion of the overall team.

“The recognition of the value in what we’re trying to create has really motivated all of us.”

When asked what message he has for those who voted for the Science Centre as their winner, Stephen said simply: “All I have to say is thank you.

“We hope that the people of Glasgow feel like the Science Centre belongs to them.

“It’s there for the city’s young people, families and communities.

“This year we’re celebrating 21 years since opening so this really is the icing on the cake for us.

“It’s made my weekend, if not my year.”
