The Manning Regional Art Gallery is delighted to announce the accomplished artist Wendy Sharpe will judge the 2021 Naked & Nude Art Prize.
“Wendy Sharpe is one of Australia’s most awarded artists, and as a former finalist and winner of the Naked & Nude Art Prize, we’re very pleased to be welcoming her back in 2021 to judge the competition,” said Gallery Director, Rachel Piercy.
Wendy, who lives in Sydney and Paris, has been awarded the Sulman Prize, two Travelling Scholarships, the Portia Geach Memorial Award (twice) and The Archibald Prize, amongst many others. Wendy has held over 60 solo exhibitions in Australia and internationally.
She has been a finalist in The Sulman Prize 12 times and The Archibald Prize six times.
“I am excited to be judging the prestigious 2021 Naked and Nude Art Prize at Manning Regional Art Gallery,” said Wendy.
“It is always such a wonderful exhibition and I’m looking forward to visiting Taree again. I Hope to see you at the Gallery.”
The biennial Naked & Nude Art Prize, previously the Manning Art Prize, commenced in 1990 and is a partnership between the Manning Regional Art Gallery and its Friends group.
Now 31 years young, the Prize is a prestigious national event on the Australian Arts Calendar, open to artists in a variety of mediums. This year the prize pool is $31,000.
The winning entry is acquired by the Friends, and donated to the MidCoast Council’s permanent collection.
Entries for the Prize close on Wednesday 16 June, and the finalists will be exhibited from Saturday 28 August until Saturday 9 October 2021.
