East Texas (KLTV/KTRE) – Here is a look at the weather where you live: Good morning, East Texas! It is a bit more on the muggy side this morning as overhead clouds have remained a bit more persistent overnight. Temperatures aren’t nearly as cool as yesterday, with most in the lower 60s. Some patchy fog will be possible at times for your commute this morning, so plan ahead and be safe on your drive today! Spotty showers will be possible at times today as breezy south winds continue to blow, sometimes gusting upwards of 20 mph. Despite our partly to mostly cloudy skies, temperatures will trend fairly warm in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees later this afternoon. Rain chances are set to really ramp up later on Thursday, leading to the chance for heavy rainfall and even some severe thunderstorms. The Storm Prediction Center currently has the majority of East Texas under an elevated threat of large hail, damaging winds, and even an isolated tornado. Storms will remain likely overnight Thursday and throughout the day on Friday, with heavy rainfall continuing into our Saturday as well before skies finally begin to dry out for most on Sunday (St. Patrick’s Day). A few showers will be possible for our southernmost zones on Sunday, but coverage won’t be nearly as widespread as what is expected Thursday – Saturday. A weak cold front is expected early Friday but won’t do too much to our temperatures for the weekend, but a second, stronger cold front will likely move in sometime later on Sunday which will lead to lower to middle 60s for highs on Monday and Tuesday along with some chilly mornings to start out next week. Please remain weather alert tomorrow and continue to monitor the forecast for more updates to our severe storm potential. We’ll keep you updated.
