The Colombian was fortunate to get away without receiving a card for an early foul on Jeremie Frimpong where he stood on the ankle of the young full-back while trying to make a challenge by the dugouts.

Celtic boss Neil Lennon wasn’t impressed with the challenge as he remonstrated with the officials and it was the same for supporters watching at home. Their frustrations were amplified further when Steven Davis made a similar challenge on Kristoffer Ajer, though his tackle was met with a booking from referee Bobby Madden.

Here’s what they had to say on social media:

@TheTweetofShaun: “Good performance. We should be in front. Madden giving them everything. Morelos borderline red and Davis definitely should be off.”

@rabcraig1962: “Refusing to see Morelos hacking at our guys while giving fouls to Rangers for being near our guys.we won’t be allowed to win not with him on pitch.”

@MickeyC93424214: “Worried about Soro 2nd half madden will send him off, morelos running about getting away with everything.”

@FM2308: “Morelos should be off and Madden doing all he can to break up the play.”

@fingac15: “Morelos should been a yellow card all day long and this is where the referees fail miserably. Right in front of the fourth official and it’s nothing to see.”

@ticstu32: “Morelos must be the most protected player in Scotland. Another intentional challenge to hurt a player and no card.”
