Travis Head has taken a swipe at India by sharing a retro music video edited to include him and his teammates to celebrate Australia’s sixth Cricket World Cup victory overnight.

The South Australian won man of the match honours in the Final, capping off an incredible tournament on a personal level by scoring a match-winning 137 runs from just 120 balls.

The Instagram video, which came after Indian supporters were criticised for leaving Narendra Modi Stadium before the end, featured highlights from Australia’s World Test Championship and Cricket World Cup victories – both of which came against India.

“We ain’t going nowhere!” Head captioned the highlights package, which was spliced together with footage from the P. Diddy’s Bad Boys For Life music video.

The Australian cricketers’ heads had been photoshopped into the video for comic effect.

“Head you have broken the hearts of 1.4 billion people,” wrote an Indian fan under the video.

“Century in world test championship final Against India… Century in a world cup final against India… hence proved… Travis Head is declared as an official daddy of India,” added an Australian fan.

A third commented: “Well done Travis Head congratulation Australia for 6th World Cup.”

“Really wanted to win man. But Travis you are insane man kudos,” posted another.

The six-wicket victory to claim Australia’s sixth Cricket World Cup comes despite the side starting the tournament woefully with back-to-back losses to India and South Africa.

Heading into the final Australia was the outsider because India was undefeated through the tournament with 10 straight wins.

Many of the 130,000-strong crowd had already left the stadium when Glenn Maxwell hit the winning runs leaving an awkward and eerie atmosphere for the trophy presentation.

Several Indian players had also left the field after shaking hands with the Australians as Cummins accepted the trophy from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Australian Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles.

Fans watching on from home quickly noticed the empty seats, sharing their observations on social media.

“Shame on the crowd at the Narendra Modi Stadium for leaving as soon as India lost and not cheering for the Australian champions. Typical Gujarati attitude!!!” one wrote on X.

Another commented: “Sea of blue disappears as empty yellow seats take over Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.”

“Even before the end of the Final match, disheartened Indian fans have started leaving the Narendra Modi stadium,” added a third with a video.

“Having been at the stadium all I can say is that the atmosphere was as dull as India’s game. People leaving early in world cup final is truly pathetic though,” another said.

The Indian players were also criticised for leaving the field before Australia lifted the trophy.

“Didn’t like not seeing the Indian side stay out on the pitch to see the Aussies lift the trophy,” former England captain Michael Vaugh wrote in a now deleted post on X, News.com.au reported.
